LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Channel 8 KLKN-TV is partnering with the People’s City Mission for a winter coat drive on Thursday.

You can stop by the station at 3240 S. 10th Street from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. to drop off new or clean, gently used winter coats in all sizes.

Pastor Tom Barber, the CEO of the People’s City Mission, said warm clothing is a necessity when the temperatures begin to drop.

“It’s so essential,” he said.  “Many of our guests, when they come to the mission, they come with a small wardrobe.”

Barber estimates that the People’s City Mission goes through about 5,000 to 10,000 coats annually between its shelter and help center.
