Nebraska men’s basketball overcomes No. 13 Illinois on the road

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska men’s basketball has silenced No. 13 Illinois in a stunning win on Saturday on the road.

Jamarques Lawrence’s final three-pointer gave Nebraska the lead with 0.2 seconds left in the game.  No. 23 Nebraska beat Illinois, 83-80.


Pryce Sandfort led the Huskers on the offensive front with 32 points, going 6 for 11 from beyond the arc.

Rienk Mast, who led the team with seven rebounds, had 17 points, and Lawrence had 14.  Nebraska shot 51.6% from the field.

Nebraska kicks off its conference schedule 2-0 with wins over Wisconsin and Illinois.  The Huskers are 11-0 for the first time in program history.

Nebraska returns to Pinnacle Bank Arena on Dec. 21 with a game against North Dakota.
