Over 3,900 pets adopted at the Capital Humane Society in 2025

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Capital Humane Society in Lincoln broke a record in 2025, helping animals find their forever homes.
On Wednesday, Matt Madcharo, the executive director at the Capital Humane Society, said 3,903 pets have been adopted so far this year.
It’s the most adoptions ever in a single year at the shelter.
“We’re thrilled with that, it’ll just set the bar a little higher next year,” Madcharo said.
The shelter is open today until 4 p.m. and will be closed on New Year’s Day.
“The work doesn’t stop, but we will take some time to celebrate that,” he said.
