Winter weather issues, January 2, 2026
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY: The advisory has been expanded and now includes much of central and eastern Nebraska. This is in place through Friday evening, January 2, 2026.
Light snow up to an inch, sleet, and light freezing rain/drizzle will be possible. Travel will be difficult in this area Friday afternoon and evening.
The best chance for freezing rain will be in central Nebraska through early evening. As the system pulls east, a rain/snow mix is possible in eastern Nebraska with light freezing drizzle or rain possible.
Travel is being impacted already. Eastern Nebraska, including Lincoln, Omaha, Beatrice, etc, does have a chance at light freezing rain late this afternoon into the evening. Be aware of road conditions before heading anywhere!
