Fred Hoiberg, several Huskers earn Big Ten postseason awards

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Fred Hoiberg and several of his players are reaping the benefits of their historic 2025-26 season.

Hoiberg was named the Big Ten’s coach of the year on Tuesday as selected by the coaches. In his seventh year, Nebraska tied a school record for wins (26) in a season.

Hoiberg signed a contract extension through the 2030-31 season on Monday.

Pryce Sandfort headlined the player awards for Nebraska. He was named a first-team All-Big Ten member by the coaches and a second-team member by the media.

Sandfort averaged just under 18 points a game this season and has made a school record 110 3-point field goals.

Braden Frager was named the Big Ten’s sixth man of the year. He was also selected for the all-freshman team. He averaged 11.7 points a game off the bench for the Huskers this season.

Sam Hoiberg was named to the conference’s all-defensive team.

Both Hoiberg and senior Rienk Mast were All-Big Ten honorable mention selections.

Nebraska opens the Big Ten Tournament on Friday in Chicago.
