Authorities arrest man following standoff near downtown Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln man was arrested on Tuesday following a standoff near downtown Lincoln.

According to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, the Metro Area Fugitive Task Force team was sent to the area of 7th and C streets to serve a warrant for 36-year-old Dustin Petersen.

Petersen had two felony warrants out of Lancaster County for possession of a controlled substance and burglary, as well as a felony warrant for possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person in York County.

Just before 1 p.m., the LSO Tactical Response Unit was also sent to the area.

In a video sent to our NOW Local News App by a Channel 8 reporter, you can see law enforcement scattered across the neighborhood waiting for Petersen to come out of the house.

Petersen was ultimately found and arrested around 2 p.m., according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities said Petersen was taken to a local hospital for evaluation by medical staff.

The Lincoln Police Department, the Nebraska State Patrol and the U.S. Marshals were also on scene.
