Big Ten announces first-ever volleyball tournament will debut this fall

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Big Ten announced its first conference volleyball tournament will happen during the 2026 season.
The conference said it will take place in Fishers, Ind., the home of the professional franchise the Indy Ignite. It will be held Nov. 20-25.
“For the first time in its history, the Big Ten Conference will determine its volleyball champion with a postseason tournament featuring the best volleyball teams in the country,” said commissioner Tony Petitti in a press release on Thursday. “We look forward to bringing the nation’s top talent together for an entire week of exhilarating competition culminating in the crowning of the inaugural Big Ten Volleyball Tournament Champion.”
The Big Ten said the top-15 teams in the conference will compete in the tournament.
Changes are coming with this news. There will only be 17 conference matches played, so each team will be each other one time.
The winner of the tournament will receive the Big Ten’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Ticket information has yet to be released.
