Officials contain the Log Road Fire completely
CRAWFORD, Neb. (KLKN) – The Log Road Fire started on Monday, June 29 is now 100% contained. Estimates remain that it scorched over 1,526 acres near Crawford and Harrison before officials could control the fire.
On July 4, Nebraska Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said the fire had been 81% contained.
NEMA said they appreciate City of Crawford for providing necessities and support throughout the incident.
The cause of the fire is believed to be caused by lightning according to NEMA.
No injuries or damage has been reported. Local, state, federal and volunteer firefighters helped in the containment of the fire. Along with them, a Type 3 Incident Management Team took over management of the fire on July 1 and transitioned back to local fire departments as the fire dwindled.
Chinook and Black Hawk helicopters were also pictured dropping thousands of gallons of water from the air.
