Storm Chances Return:

Warmer weather continues into Monday afternoon with mostly sunny skies in eastern Nebraska. Midweek temperatures are expected to plummet alongside chances for showers and thunderstorms.

The latest run of StormCast keeps us dry through most of the day on Monday. Chances for showers and thunderstorms in central Nebraska will increase by Monday evening into Tuesday.

The chance for severe weather returns in central Nebraska on Monday evening into early Tuesday morning. A Marginal Risk (Level 1 out of 5) of severe weather is in place as an isolated severe storm or two will be possible.

The strongest storms in the area will be capable of quarter-sized hail and up to 60-mile-per-hour wind gusts.

Better chances of precipitation move in as early as Wednesday morning for areas along and south of Interstate-80.

Long-term model runs keep the highest precipitation totals over the next week in eastern Nebraska.

Full Forecast:

We start the work week off with temperatures in the mid-to-upper 60s for most of the state. Cloud cover will be minimal as we head through the overnight hours.

Sunday evening into Monday morning will be calm in Lincoln, with overnight temperatures close to average in the middle 60s.

Most of the state should see the 90s on Monday afternoon, with air temperatures in the triple digits possible for southwest Nebraska.

Temperatures will be in the 70s and 80s for most of Monday morning in the Capital City, with southerly winds picking up in the afternoon. This will push our afternoon temperatures into the lower 90s.

Our midweek storm chances knock temperatures down to the 70s and 80s for the majority of the work week. Long-term forecasts are starting to hint at another hot and dry stretch by the start of next week.
