LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Chris Backemeyer, the Democratic candidate for Nebraska’s First Congressional District, announced today that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) added the seat he is running for to its Districts in Play program.

The Districts in Play program targets certain districts that are currently held by Republicans across the country. According to DCCC, there are 46 districts that are being targeted to reclaim the House majority.

“Nebraskans are tired of politicians who spend more time playing political games than solving problems. Mike Flood has spent years in elected office, but what do we have to show for it?,” Backemeyer said. “Families are struggling with rising costs for groceries, gas, healthcare, and housing. Farmers are facing higher expenses and uncertainty in the markets they rely on. Our neighbors deserve a leader who will put people first, show up every day, and fight for lower costs and real opportunities for hardworking Nebraskans to get ahead.”
