Excellence in Education: Local One-Acts prepare to compete

Lincoln North Star High School hosted this year’s One-Act qualifiers for state.
6 teams will compete on Saturday for a chance to move on to the state competition. There were going to be 8 teams, but unfortunately 2 can’t make it because of the dangerous winter weather expected.
North Star’s performance this year centers around orphans, who were sent from New York to the Midwest in the 1800s.
The performance is titled “Orphan Train.”
Students even took a trip to Kansas to see the National Orphan Train Museum.
“This group has been really wonderful to each other, and true to the story to what we are trying to tell and very respectful to the story that we are trying to tell, but more than anything they have been truly dedicated to each other and to the craft of theatre,” says Brenda Broker, LNS Theatre Director.
Performances start Saturday, December 1st, at 9 a.m. and will run every hour an a half.
It costs students $4 and adults $5.
Guests are asked to enter on the west side of North Star High School.
