Cooler for one day, milder over the weekend
Southern Nebraska will be hard-pressed to see much sunshine on Thursday. That may be a different case in northern sections of the state, where skies may turn mostly sunny during the morning and afternoon. However, Lincoln will likely be on the cloudier side of things for most of the day.
Thursday will be a cooler day overall, with high temperatures a few degrees below average. We expect lower-40s for highs in Lincoln. There shouldn’t be too much temperature variation across the area.
In recent days, we’ve been discussing a chance to see a narrow snow band develop nearby. As of Thursday morning, this snow band has developed in northern Kansas. That band may drift north through the morning, bringing a small chance to see a flurry or two mainly south of I-80.
If anything can reach the ground, some raindrops might mix in during the afternoon. There’s a good chance dry air wins the battle on Thursday, keeping most in southeast Nebraska dry.
By late afternoon and early evening, Lincoln may start to see a few breaks in the cloud cover. We’ll turn mostly clear to partly cloudy overnight and into Friday morning, with lows in the mid-20s.
We’ll warm right back up for the weekend. We expect highs in the 50s on Friday and Saturday, and Sunday may even feature the 60s. While we see a fair amount of sunshine this weekend, a few waves of clouds will pass through on Friday and Saturday night.
