Gasbuddy: Cost of gas in Lincoln reaches more than $4 a gallon

Gas Prices

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln’s average for a gallon of gas has now reached the $4 threshold.

According to Gasbuddy, the average to fill up at the pump is now at $4.01/gallon. That’s up 25.5 cents from last week and nearly 65 cents higher than it was a month ago.

Several of Channel 8’s citizen journalists have shown us prices more than $4/gallon on our Now Local News App.

Lincoln is definitely one of the higher spots to pay for gas in the state, according to Gasbuddy. The company reports that Nebraska’s state average is now at $3.95/gallon.

Gasbuddy reports the national average is up to $4.42/gallon.

“While refinery outages were a key driver behind those outsized increases, early signs of improvement could help ease some of the most extreme price pressures in the Great Lakes in the days ahead,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “Beyond the region, markets are also digesting a wave of new developments— including OPEC+ raising production for June and President Trump outlining a plan to free stranded ships— which could help restore some supply.

“However, with so many moving pieces, the outlook remains highly fluid, and while some localized relief may emerge, broader price volatility is likely to persist in the near term.”
