Health Department reports one more death from COVID-19 on Wednesday

Lincoln, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln-Lancaster Health Department reported one more death from COVID on Wednesday, bringing the total to 240. The new COVID death was a hospitalized woman in her 80’s.

The health department also reported 14 new lab-confirmed cases, bringing the total number of cases to 31,710.

There are currently 32 total COVID hospitalizations. Lancaster County has 18 of those hospitalizations, with two of them being on ventilators. The remaining 14 hospitalizations come from communities outside Lancaster County, with five of them being on ventilators.

The Lincoln-Lancaster County COVID Risk Dial remains green, which means transmission is low and the virus is controlled.

179,241 people have initiated vaccinations, while 170,048 people have completed vaccinations.

Fully vaccinated residents ages 16 and older is 66.9 percent. Lancaster County’s vaccination goal is 75 percent.
