Hot Tuesday, Severe Storms Wednesday
High temperatures across the state reaching the low to upper 90s under sunny skies. A bit hotter by a degree or two compared to Monday, due to lower moisture.
SE winds will be light for much of eastern Nebraska, with the bulk of the winds out west. Isolated storms will bring stronger winds Tuesday evening across the panhandle.
Wednesday-Thursday Morning SEVERE WX:
Wednesday evening-Thursday brings our next COLD FRONT along with strong to severe storms NW->SE. Storms could be capable of DAMAGING WINDS, HAIL & localized flooding.
8pm-midnight: This will likely start the SEVERE weather threat across SW/western Nebraska as storms move east. 60-70+ mph winds, small hail & heavy rainfall will be associated with a few storms.
THURDAY: 1-5am: SE Nebraska will likely see the bulk of the rain/storms starting near 1:00am Thursday. Heavy rain, small hail & gusty winds will be the main concerns. Stay tuned for the latest updates!
Rainfall potential through Thursday morning could include localized spots of heavier rainfall within thunderstorms overnight Wednesday.
A marginal risk for EXCESSIVE RAINFALL is in effect for parts of SE Nebraska Wednesday through Thursday morning. This is due to the localized flooding potential, as storms could have rainfall rates up to 1″/hr.
Wednesday evening through Thursday brings rain/storm chances along with “cooler” temperatures. This weekend starts our HOT and DRY stretch! The start of next week, temperatures could reach the triple digits across the state. It has been 382 days since Lincoln has seen 100 degrees!
