Organizers of the Facebook group #FindRyanLarsen said it’s still important to do something for Larsen’s birthday, despite him being gone for 22 days now.

The goal for celebrating Larsen’s birthday is to remind him that he is loved and wanted back home, said La Vista resident Ryan Wedekind.

“When he comes home, he is going to need a bunch of cards to open up and know how many people have been thinking about him, have been looking for him, love him and really want to meet him. It was something that we thought needed to be done,” said Wedekind.
