Updated: Lincoln man dies after house fire

Bill Strahan had just celebrated Christmas with his family, when in the middle of the night, a fire breaks out in his home. He has died from his injuries.  It's been a few days since Monday morning's devastating fire.  And here, amidst the charred building fragments and yellow caution tape…sits this stuffed koala, a photo, and two flowers. They're there to honor 46-year-old Bill Strahan, a man who loved to live.

“He had so much going on. And he had so much stuff that, he was just ready to start living I think,” Brother Daniel Strahan said.

Bill Strahan was asleep Monday morning when a fire erupted in his home. His girlfriend, her son, and her nephew were also in the house but were able to escape unharmed. Those who knew and loved him remember Bill as someone who always put others first.

“He would always be there for you. Unselfish. Just remember him as a righteous guy,” Strahan said.

His family says he also had a way of making you laugh.  And through that fun personality came his love for all people.  Especially his family and friends. “You know, he always hugged you when he saw you. His big thing was 'heeeyyyy'. He would always say 'heeeyyyy',” Friend PJ Carson said.

Bill was an organ donor. And his friends say because of his unselfishness he's helping to save 4 other lives.  They say Bill was a man of faith. And for them, knowing that brings comfort.

“His acceptance of Jesus Christ as his Savior…he is at peace. And I take consolation in that perfectly,” Friend Paul Earnest said.
