Local business encourages electronic recycling, low during pandemic
Recycling during COVID has gone down according to leaders at a local business.

LINCOLN, Neb., (KLKN)– Recycling during COVID has gone down according to leaders at a local business.
“Normal public, people don’t know what they are doing well they’re just throwing garbage in a landfill,” says Ali Mohammad, president of American Recycling.
He says less recycled electronics are coming in as schools, business offices, and more hang on to old equipment. Mohammad adds it is important to recycle and lessen the burden on city landfills. He says he has lost around $4 million to invest and keep workers employed during these times.
“I do not like to have my local people or my city struggle or harm them,” says Muhammad. “A landfill full? “No, I keep my door open so anyone can come and do it.”
Most electronics can be recycled there for free. American Recycling is located near South 16th and Cushman drive. For more information, visit https://americanrecyclingne.com.
