College World Series holds first fan fest in two years
OMAHA, Neb. (KLKN) – The 2022 Men’s College World series opened on Thursday with the first fan fest and opening ceremonies in two years due to the pandemic.
Baseball lovers and fans supporting all eight teams in the CWS spent the day at the Omaha Baseball Village visiting various vendors and restaurants.
While the fans were enjoying the festivities, teams spent the morning and afternoon practicing on Charles Schwab Field, talking to media and holding press conferences ahead of Friday’s first two games.
Fan Fest began at 11 a.m. and ended at 7 p.m. The showing of “Field of Dreams” began at 6:30 p.m. before the parade of teams started at 9 p.m.
Like in many CWS pasts, rain and weather was a factor on opening day. Teams and fans were rushed off the field and out of the stands following lightning.
Every team participated in a walk across the field honoring their hard work thus far, except for Texas, which had to walk across the field and straight inside due to the weather.
