Patrick Mahomes becomes co-owner of NWSL’s Kansas City Current

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is now a co-owner of the Kansas City Current.
Mahomes is the first active NFL player to have equity in a National Women’s Soccer League team, according to a press release.
The star QB’s wife, Brittany, is already a member of the Current’s ownership group.
“I am thankful for the chance to join my wife as part of the Kansas City Current’s ownership team,” Mahomes said. “Brittany and the Longs have done an incredible job building a world-class organization. I am excited to join another championship-caliber club as it continues to make history.”

Mahomes is also a part owner of the Kansas City Royals, the Associated Press reported. He joined the Royals’ ownership group back in 2020.
