LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A wave of severe weather across Nebraska on Monday hit rural areas in eastern York County.
“This is something we experienced a year ago in June,” firefighter Matthew Mau said. “We came together and recovered from that. We’re going to do the same thing this year.”
The Waco Volunteer Fire Department said the storm caused several vehicles to roll, which led to a few injuries.
“We had multiple semis that have been overturned in the highway and a few injuries at a local campground,” Mau said.
The storm also downed power lines, causing outages in the county.
The Perennial Public Power District said there were 40 broken poles.

York County officials said soybean fields were “literally wiped clean” and pivots were overturned along Highway 34.
In a Facebook post, the fire department thanked everyone in and around Waco who helped crews out.
As of Tuesday afternoon, people in Waco were still cleaning up downed tree limbs, as well as entire trees, according to York County officials.
Nebraska could see more severe weather Tuesday night.
Channel 8’s Rusty Dawkins said large hail is the main concern, but some areas could also see damaging wind and isolated tornadoes.
Severe storms start in NW Nebraska late Tuesday afternoon. Into central Nebraska after sunset. Into eastern Nebraska overnight.
For #LNK, timing looks like a couple hours after sunset for storms.
