* WHAT...Heat index values up to 106 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, north central, and
northeast Kansas.

* WHEN...From 1 PM Wednesday to 8 PM CDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat cramps,
heat exhaustion, and even heat stroke.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Flood Advisory (Minor)

Boyd, NE

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.Additional
thunderstorms will move over the area this evening with additional
heavy rainfall possible over the next several hours.

* WHERE...Northwestern Boyd County in north central Nebraska...

* WHEN...Until 900 PM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. Water over
roadways.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 600 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 2.5 and 3 inches of rain
have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 1.5 inches are expected over
the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

Naper.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.

- At 702 PM CDT, the public reported heavy rain in 5 South Butte
due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is already occurring.
Between 2 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen.
- 5 South Butte is the most likely place to experience minor
flooding.

Parshall Bridge State Wildlife Management Area and Hull Lake
State Wildlife Management Area.

At 653 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Marty to 9 miles southwest of Lynch to 9 miles
northwest of O'Neill, moving east at 30 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and half dollar size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to
roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include...
O'Neill, Spencer, Atkinson, Lynch, Gross, Bristow, Emmet, Monowi,
Scottville, Redbird State Wildlife Management Area, Opportunity,
Spencer Dam, Midway, and Anncar.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses. Several days of excessive heat will add to cumulative
heat stress.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The heat advisory may be extended or expanded
as the prolonged heatwave continues.
