LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Nebraska man was arrested overnight following multiple pursuits in northern Lancaster County.

Around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, a trooper was patrolling on Interstate 80 near the Lincoln Airport exit when he saw a BMW sedan traveling faster than 95 mph.

According to the Nebraska State Patrol, the trooper tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver sped off, prompting a chase.

The state patrol said the driver reached speeds over 160 mph on I-80 before exiting onto 56th Street toward Lincoln. The trooper stopped the chase out of concern for public safety.

Several minutes later, the state patrol said another trooper saw the same vehicle headed west on Cornhusker Highway between 70th and 56th streets.

According to the state patrol, the driver fled again, turning north onto 56th Street, where a trooper used stop sticks to slow the vehicle.

The driver continued north before coming to a stop near Highway 77 and Agnew Road. The state patrol said the driver then ran off.

Troopers searched the area with assistance from several other agencies, but did not find the driver.

However, the troopers found identifying information in his car, and arrested him when he returned home at around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday.

The driver — 20-year-old Nathanael Campbell of Ceresco — was arrested on suspicion of flight to avoid arrest, wilful reckless driving – second offense, obstructing a peace officer and several traffic violations.

He was lodged in the Lancaster County Jail.
