Board of Education announces four finalists for LPS superintendent
The Board plans to interview each of the four finalists on Feb. 1 and Feb. 4.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln Board of Education announced the four finalists for LPS superintendent.
“After reviewing all of the applications, the Board is pleased with the strength of this exceptional pool of candidates,” said Connie Duncan, president of the Lincoln Board of Education. “Each candidate brings a unique perspective and a wealth of experience that will benefit our community.”
The Board plans to interview each of the four finalists on Feb. 1 and Feb. 4. The candidates will also meet with various small groups that include students, staff, families and community members.
The Board will hold two public meetings on Feb. 1 and Feb. 4 starting at 7:30 p.m., so people can hear from each candidate. The Board says the meetings will include a public comment period.
People wanting to watch the meetings can view them on the Board webpage, LPS YouTube Channel and the LNK TV Education Channel.
Duncan says the board will make the final decision in February.
The four finalists are:

Paul Gausman, Superintendent for Sioux City Community School District in Sioux City, Iowa.

Peter Licata, South Regional Superintendent for the Palm Beach County School District in Boca Raton, Florida.

Jami Jo Thompson, Superintendent for Norfolk Public Schools in Norfolk, Nebraska.

Antwan Wilson, Assistant Professor for Nebraska Wesleyan University, in Lincoln Nebraska, and Chief Executive Officer of Schoolwise Educational Consulting.

Steve Joel, the current LPS superintendent, plans to retire at the end of June.
