LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lt. Gov. Mike Foley endorsed Charles Herber for Nebraska governor at the Capitol on Tuesday.

Foley said that he’s had a chance to “size up” all of the candidates and that Herbster has stood out to him and he’s very impressed.  He believes that Herbster would be the best fit for Nebraska.

“I’m going to work very, very hard on the campaign trail with him to get out there and try to rally conservative voters, particularly pro-life voters to see if we can get Charles W. Herbster in the governor’s office,” Foley said. “I think he will make a great governor.”

The Jim Pillen campaign claims that it turned down Foley’s offer to be his running mate.

Gov. Pete Ricketts endorsed Pillen back in January.

He told the Nebraska Examiner on Tuesday that Foley was making a mistake.

“I was very disappointed with the lieutenant governor’s choice,” he said. “I think it’s incredibly poor judgment on his part.”
