Omaha Storm Chasers filling Royals roster after vaccine status upheaval
10 Royals are unable to make the trip to Toronto this weekend
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Royals will be without 10 players due to vaccination status during their series in Toronto this weekend.
To patch up the missing spots, the Omaha Storm Chasers have come to the rescue.
The Royals’ Triple-A affiliate will provide Nick Pratto, Brewer Hicklen, Michael Massey, Nate Eaton and Freddy Fermin for the team in Toronto.
This series will be the major league debut for Pratto, Eaton, Massey and Fermin. Hicklen is the only one with time in the majors, which included striking out in his first two plate appearances in May.

Two players from the team’s Double-A affiliate will also make the trip up north. Two spots on the Royals’ roster will remain open.
They will serve as replacements for all-stars Andrew Benintendi and Whit Merrifield. Eight other Royals, including Kyle Isbel, MJ Melendez and Michael Taylor, will also be unavailable in Canada.
Those players will collectively lose $726,128 for not playing in the series, according to the Associated Press.
So far this season, 25 MLB players have been barred from going to Toronto. The Royals are adding 10 more to that list, the most by a single team.
