LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – One man was arrested Sunday after he tried destroying security footage that showed the disassembly of a stolen motorcycle, police say.

On Friday, a 20-year-old reported that his 2003 Kawasaki Ninja had been stolen sometime overnight near 27th and South Streets.

Two days later, officers found the motorcycle at an apartment building near 14th and Adams Streets.

The motorcycle had since been disassembled, according to police.

Police later identified 35-year-old Justin Britthouer as a suspect.

Officers believed the apartment’s security footage would show the suspect taking apart the motorcycle.

So officers began going through the process of retrieving that footage, police say.

A couple of hours later, officers were sent back to the apartment after a report of a break-in at the security office.

When officers arrived, they found Britthouer inside and took him into custody, police say.

The security office’s window had been shattered, and police found that the security system’s hard drive had been taken.

Britthouer was charged with burglary, theft by receiving, possession of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence.
