Two teens ran away from officers after hijacking car in north Lincoln, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Two teens crashed a stolen vehicle and led officers on a chase Tuesday night in north Lincoln, police say

Around midnight, a 16-year-old boy approached a car near 25th and W streets and told the driver that he was armed.

Police said the teen demanded that everyone get out of the vehicle and he drove off.

Later on, officers found the vehicle, but it fled and struck a parked car near 26th and Randolph streets.

The 16-year-old and a passenger got out of the car and tried to run from officers, according to police.

An officer used a Taser to stop the 16-year-old, and a police dog found the passenger, an 18-year-old man.

Police said the 16-year-old was taken to a hospital before he was arrested on suspicion of use of a vehicle to avoid arrest, robbery, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony and resisting arrest.

The 18-year-old was arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting a robbery and obstructing police a police officer.
