LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Huskers were again hampered by turnovers on Saturday as they fell 36-14 to the No. 22 Buffaloes in Boulder.

Nebraska committed four turnovers, and Colorado’s explosive offense took advantage of them, putting up 468 yards to Nebraska’s 341.

The Huskers started the game by driving deep into Colorado territory.

But quarterback Jeff Sims fumbled the snap, and the Buffs recovered it at their 35-yard line.

The teams then traded punts, leading to a scoreless game at the end of the first quarter.

Nebraska stopped Colorado’s first drive of the second quarter by sacking quarterback Shedeur Sanders three times – twice by Cameron Lenhardt and once by Nick Henrich.

The Huskers had a chance to score on the next possession, but Tristan Alvano missed a 45-yard field goal attempt.

When NU got the ball back, Sims fumbled it at the Huskers’ 19-yard line.

Colorado recovered the ball and took advantage of the short field, with Jace Feely making a 31-yard field goal.

Nebraska’s next possession had a similar outcome: Sims threw an interception deep in Nebraska territory.

On the next play, Sanders threw a 30-yard pass to Tar’Varish Dawson for a touchdown.

In the last second of the first half, Feely made another 31-yarder to extend Colorado’s lead.

Nebraska got on the board on its first drive of the second half when Sims ran 57 yards into the end zone.

But Colorado answered with a 12-yard touchdown pass from Sanders to Xavier Weaver.

Nebraska punted on the next drive, and Colorado again made it to the red zone.

But Riley Van Poppel and Luke Reimer sacked Sanders on third down to hold the Buffs to a field goal.

To start the fourth quarter, Nebraska running back Gabe Ervin Jr. fumbled the handoff from Sims, and the Buffaloes recovered the ball at midfield.

And Colorado capitalized with an 8-yard rushing touchdown by Dawson.

The Buffs tacked on another TD with a 6-yard run by Sanders.

Nebraska scored as the clock ran out when backup QB Heinrich Haarberg threw a 4-yard pass to Thomas Fidone II in the end zone.

Sims completed nine of 15 passes for 106 yards.

Ervin led Nebraska on the ground with 74 yards on 17 carries.

Billy Kemp IV had five receptions for 57 yards.

The game was the latest chapter in a rivalry that Nebraska has historically dominated, with a .704 winning percentage.

But the tide may be turning.

Colorado has now won three straight in the series, the Buffaloes’ longest streak since the 1950s.

Nebraska also extended a streak on Saturday: The Huskers have lost their last 22 games against ranked opponents.
