Man accused of fourth DUI in south Lincoln crash

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – An impaired driver was arrested Tuesday after a crash in south Lincoln, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office says.

Around noon, deputies started receiving reports of a vehicle driving recklessly along Highway 77, Capt. John Vik said.

Shortly after, a vehicle driven by 43-year-old Joshua Day crashed near Warlick Boulevard and Creekside Trail.

Day, who has three prior DUI convictions, showed signs of intoxication, Vik said.

He was then given a field sobriety test.

Authorities determined that Day was under the influence of a drug, Vik said.

Day was arrested on suspicion of fourth-offense driving under the influence, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

“This just highlights the dangers that are also involved with drug-impaired driving, in addition to alcohol-impaired driving,” Vik said. “And we’re very, very fortunate that no one was injured.”
