Red Way customers still wait for refunds as Lincoln Airport Authority gets final payment
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lancaster County officials are hoping a final payment to the Lincoln Airport Authority will allow some Red Way customers to finally get their refund.
Channel 8 was told last month around 600 customers were still waiting for that money after the airline abruptly shut down back in August.
The Airport Authority will receive more than $700,000 from Lancaster County next Thursday, Nov. 9. This is the final installment of the $3 million the City of Lincoln and Lancaster County agreed to give to fund Red Way back in March.
However, county officials say they can not guarantee that money will be used to pay back the hundreds of customers left in the dark ever since Red Way closed operations.
The Lancaster County board does say it remains concerned with this situation and is encouraging, “the Airport Authority and Red Way to agree on the next steps necessary to make Red Way customers whole.”
And if you are still waiting on a refund, Lancaster County suggests to contact the U.S. Department of Transportation/Office of Aviation Consumer Protection at (202) 366-2220 or to file a formal complaint.
