LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man rode on an Amtrak train with over 5 pounds of meth on Wednesday, court documents say.

The Lincoln-Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force was following up on an investigation into 44-year-old Matthew Eriksen.

Investigators learned that Eriksen was bringing a “large amount” of meth back to Lincoln by train, an arrest affidavit alleges.

Just before 7 a.m., investigators found Eriksen and his girlfriend as they were leaving the Amtrak platform in downtown Lincoln.

Eriksen’s girlfriend said she had marijuana in her purse, according to the affidavit, and authorities took her into custody.

Investigators searched her other bags, which contained a small amount of meth and drug paraphernalia, according to the affidavit.

Eriksen denied having drugs, but authorities searched a backpack and found over 5 pounds of meth, the affidavit alleges.

Investigators also discovered “an abundance of plastic bags” and a scale in other bags.

Eriksen had $53, which authorities think was proceeds from drug sales, according to court documents.

He was charged Thursday with two drug felonies.

A Lancaster County judge set Eriksen’s bond at $200,000.  He must pay $20,000 to be released from jail.
