Cook led his team to a record of 32-1 and a Big Ten championship trophy during the 2023 season and the #1 overall seed in the NCAA tournament. The Huskers lead the nation in wins and winning percentage, and Nebraska won an outright Big Ten Conference title and was selected as the No. 1 overall seed for the NCAA Tournament.
Cook is looking for his fifth national championship trophy at Nebraska (2000, 2006, 2015, and 2017)
He is fifth among active NCAA Division I coaches in wins and he is nearing his 850th career victory.
He was also inducted into the American Volleyball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2017.
Cook also received the Big Ten Coach of the Year award this season. That is the 7th time he’s received that honor with the Huskers (2001, 2005, 2008, 2010, 2016, 2017).
Cook took on the challenge of having his Huskers play a volleyball match outdoors in a football stadium, which was an overwhelming success story as 92,003 packed Memorial Stadium for Volleyball Day in Nebraska on Aug. 30. The event gained worldwide attention as the crowd set a record for the largest to attend a women’s sporting event anywhere in the world.
