Nebraska’s Fred Hoiberg gets national coach of the year award
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska basketball coach Fred Hoiberg is the 2024 Jim Phelan National Coach of the Year, officials announced Thursday.
Hoiberg is the second Husker coach to earn the honor. In 2014, former Nebraska basketball coach Tim Miles was given the award.

Hoiberg led the Huskers to a 23-11 record, which included wins over No. 1 Purdue and No. 6 Wisconsin.
Nebraska also had an 18-1 record at Pinnacle Bank Arena and secured the No. 3 seed in the Big Ten Tournament.
He also led the Huskers to their first March Madness appearance in a decade.
Last month, Hoiberg was named Big Ten co-Coach of the Year, sharing the award with Purdue’s Matt Painter.
