Storms hold off in eastern Nebraska until late, then holiday morning chance
We should see the weather cooperate for holiday plans over the next couple of days.
Wednesday will be rather calm here in town, other than some patchy fog in the morning. Winds will be rather unnoticeable. Temperatures still staying rather cool compared to seasonal normals for this time of year in early July.
For evening plans, storms should stay west of Lincoln until after about 11PM/midnight. That should bode well for Uncle Sam Jam plans and the firework show. Storm chances will increase just after that for eastern Nebraska.
Storms out west could be rather strong, though. A line of storms will initiate after about 1-2 p.m. and loses steam as it moves east through the evening hours.
Out west is where the worst of the severe weather potential falls for late Wednesday afternoon and evening. A Slight (Level 2 of 5) risk highlights most of western Nebraska for the threats of large hail, damaging wind and isolated tornadoes.
Storms will be possible again through the first part of the day on the 4th – but should be quick to clear out for evening plans.
Severe threat should remain rather low across eastern Nebraska for both tonight’s chance and tomorrow morning.
