LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A man was convicted Monday in a fentanyl overdose in Lincoln.

Robert Harris, 57, of Lincoln was found guilty of distribution of fentanyl resulting in serious bodily injury and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine and heroin.

U.S. District Judge John Gerrard announced his verdict after presiding over a bench trial last month.

On Feb. 14, Harris and a woman snorted a line of heroin powder at his apartment, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

They walked to a convenience store to buy alcohol, but as they were leaving, the woman passed out.

The clerk called 911, and Lincoln Fire & Rescue arrived.

First responders gave the victim Narcan, which authorities said likely saved her life.

Her urine tested positive for fentanyl, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

After the woman’s overdose, Harris went back to his apartment and finished the drugs.

He ordered more from his source the next day, and authorities said that batch tested positive for fentanyl, meth, cocaine and heroin.

Text messages showed Harris was also working to obtain drugs for someone else, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

In those messages, he also discussed his involvement in the overdose.

Harris is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 25. He faces 20 years to life in prison.
