Huskers Staying Motivated To Play Rutgers On Friday

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Following the announcement of Friday’s game time change, the Huskers are gearing up for a cold night game in New Jersey.

“We are used to the cold here in Nebraska,” said offensive coordinator Matt Lubick. “We practice a lot outside. I think that’s help our guys a lot.”

On the defensive side, the conversation revolved around the targeting penalty that was called on Cam Taylor-Britt this past Saturday. Taylor-Britt has now missed an entire game due to two targeting calls this season.

“Its a tough situation,” defensive coordinator Erik Chinander said. “Those officials have a hard job, but that same play happens five or six other times that same game but the guy wasn’t wearing a quarterback jersey.”

He also went on to express concern over player safety in the future as defenses will be forced to tackle low creating other injures for players.

“Unfortunately, there is going to a lot more skilled players with season ending injuries,” Chinander said. “There’s going to be a lot of ACL’s and those type of things because guys are going to be forced to go low.”

Senior and captain Collin Miller also made the announcement that he will most likely not return next season due to health concerns.

“So looking at my MRIs and CT scans…and looking down the road, I probably won’t be coming back and probably hang up the cleats for good,” Miller said.
