LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN)- As of Monday morning, 36,253 first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been given to those in the Phase 1-A group in Nebraska, according to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).

Last week, residents and staff in long-term care facilities began to get vaccinated.

In the last month of 2020, over 86,000 vaccine doses were received in Nebraska after winter weather delayed shipping. Of the doses, 63,000 were for health care workers and 23,000 for the residents and staff of long-term care facilities.

Phase 1-B, for those 75 years and older, is projected to start in late January. Following this, essential workers–those who can’t work remotely–will be vaccinated next.

DHHS has launched a COVID-19 Vaccination dashboard to keep the community updated on Nebraska’s vaccination effort over time. Click here to take a look.
