Lincoln man arranges Christmas Eve dinner for kids at Cedars

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – This Christmas Eve, a special gathering took place at Cedars.

The youths staying there received a nice holiday dinner and got into the Christmas spirit.

For the young people there, the holidays can be a time of isolation.

But on Tuesday, a Lincoln man and a catering company, joined forced to share warm meals, some festive cheer, and a sense of belonging.

Marc Brouse, the director of maintenance for Primesites Real Estate, said the event was inspired after his wife got sick.

“She was in Madonna, and that’s when I kind of thought about it, where it’s hard for families to be away from other members of family and celebrating Christmas and not having traditional meals,” Brouse said. “So as soon as we did that, we actually provided meals to Madonna, and then my wife mentioned Cedars.

Doorstep Diner Catering provided the food, and the kids got to play games, too.

Brouse said the day was all about giving the youth the gift of community.

“I think it’s important for everyone to enjoy the holidays, and there’s a lot of people out there that need help, but it’s even more so during a time like this,” he said.

Brouse said this is not an easy thing to do, but nothing is too difficult to keep from spreading joy across the community.

“I know a lot of people get depressed during holiday season, so if there’s anything that we can do to help it make it a little bit of a brighter of a day, we want to do that,” he said.
