LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was arrested Thursday after an assault at an apartment near downtown Lincoln, police say.

Around 7:45 a.m., officers were sent to a parking lot near 21st and G streets on a report of an assault.

The victim, a 59-year-old man, was taken to a hospital with a cut to his forehead and a brain bleed, police said.

He is in critical but stable condition, according to LPD.

During an investigation, officers learned that Tyron Canby, 40, and the victim were both at an apartment about an hour before the reported assault.

Canby hit the victim with an “object” multiple times and knocked him out, LPD said.

The victim later woke up and walked to a nearby parking lot looking for help.

Officers served a search warrant at the apartment and found Canby hiding in a closet.

He was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.
