Former Husker Alex Gordon elected to Kansas City Royals Hall of Fame

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Former Husker baseball player Alex Gordon will be the 31st inductee into the Kansas City Royals Hall of Fame.
Officials announced Friday that Gordon will be inducted during a ceremony at Kauffman Stadium on June 13, when the Royals face the Athletics.
“My family and I are beyond grateful and humbled,” Gordon said in a press release. “I’ve said this before but my heart has always and will always be with the Royals. All I ever thought about was working as hard as I could, and being the best teammate I could. The memories we made will stick with me forever, and this incredible honor is a reflection of our amazing teammates, coaches, trainers, staff and fans in Kansas City.”
Gordon joins a slew of other legendary Royals players in the team’s hall of fame, including Frank White, George Brett and Bret Saberhagen.
The Lincoln native played at third base for the Huskers from 2003 to 2005. He won several player of the year awards in his final collegiate season.
Gordon went on to have a successful career in Kansas City that included three All-Star selections and eight Gold Glove awards.
He also helped lead the Royals to a World Series win in 2015. In 2020, Gordon retired after spending 14 years in Kansas City.
Gordon has since been inducted into the Nebraska Baseball Hall of Fame and College Baseball Hall of Fame.
