Mast’s 31 leads Nebraska past Winthrop, extends nation-best unbeaten streak

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska men’s basketball team continued its unbeaten streak Tuesday night, beating Winthrop 80-73 at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Dating back to last season, the Huskers have now won 11 consecutive games, making that the longest streak in college basketball.
Nebraska used a big second half to come out on top, outscoring the Eagles 48-37.
As a team, the Huskers shot 42% from the floor and 34% from beyond the arc. Winthrop shot 38% from the floor and 31% from deep.
Rienk Mast led Nebraska with a big scoring night. Mast tallied 31 points on 11-for-18 shooting and hit seven of his 10 3-pointers.
Coming off his recent freshman of the week award, Braden Frager tallied 11 points and snagged six boards.
Cale Jacobsen also scored 11 points on 4-for-7 shooting. Pryce Sandfort racked up 10 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
The Huskers will return to the court on Saturday to take on South Carolina Upstate.
Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
