Nebraska basketball’s Pryce Sandfort earns Big Ten weekly honor

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Nebraska basketball’s Pryce Sandfort was honored by the Big Ten Conference on Monday, as he was named Co-Big Ten Player of the Week.
The announcement comes after Sandfort helped lead the Huskers to wins over Wisconsin and No. 13 Illinois.
The junior forward averaged 23.0 points per game on 64% shooting, including 47% from 3-point range.
His performance helped the Huskers extend school records for wins (15) and wins to start a season (11).
Sandfort broke out in the win over No. 13 Illinois, scoring a career-high 32 points on 12-of-18 shooting while matching his career high with six 3-pointers and adding three assists.
He had 26 of his points in the first half, including the Huskers’ first 15 points of the contest, as his 26-point effort was the fourth-highest half total by a power conference player this season.
Sandfort also added 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting in NU’s 90-60 win over Wisconsin last Wednesday, as the 30-point margin was NU’s most significant margin of victory in the series.
In addition to the Big Ten honor, Sandfort was also tabbed as Dick Vitale’s National Player of the Week.
Sandfort shared the Big Ten honor with Indiana’s Lamar Wilkerson.
Nebraska moved to No. 15 in both the AP and Coaches polls on Monday, marking the Huskers’ highest AP ranking since 1991.
