Record Heat on Monday
Extremely mild temperatures continue for the close of the weekend with many of us enjoying evening temperatures in the 40s and 50s.
As we continue this stretch of warmer weather, ice jams remain possible for rivers north of Interstate 80. A Flood Watch is in place through Monday evening for the Elkhorn, Loup, and Platte Rivers.
Lows tonight will drop close to freezing for the majority of the state. We usually see low temperatures in the middle to upper teens this time of year.
A very mild evening tonight in Lincoln with low temperatures expected to fall to just below the freezing point.

Low relative humidity and high winds will create an elevated risk for fire weather across the state on Monday. A Red Flag Warning is in place throughout the day for the panhandle and portions of central Nebraska, though conditions favorable for the spread of wildfires will be present for much of the state.
Winds gusts will pick up late Monday afternoon and into the evening, starting in northwest Nebraska.
Record heat is expected across the state by Monday afternoon, with most of us seeing highs in the 70s.
The forecast continues to hint at a new record high in the Capital City on Monday. We would have to beat 68° to pass the current record, set in 1954. We would have to get to 75° to crack the top 10 for all-time February temperatures in Lincoln.

A cold front will move through Monday afternoon and evening which sets temperatures back into the 50s for Tuesday and Wednesday. Off and on chances for rain begin late Wednesday going into the weekend. Temperatures will continue to remain mild through President’s Day.
