Lincoln’s Taco Inn celebrated its 50 year anniversary with the founder

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Taco Inn celebrated its 50 year anniversary yesterday. The retired founder, Roger Leising, joined the celebration at one of the locations.

The first Taco Inn was opened in 1976 by Leising near 13th and R streets.

Leising said the emphasis on good product is one of the reasons for the restaurants longevity.

“It’s been a good run. We’ve had some huge taco sales,” Leising said. “We were kind of the right place at the right time. We’ve always tried to serve good quality product and here we are 50 years later.”

His wife and Leising are about to celebrate their 44 year anniversary next month. She said Taco Inn was involved in some of their first dates.

His wife said Roger would get called to come in and make the beans, because he always made the beans the best. She emphasized how proud she was of him and the dedication he put into Taco Inn.

When asked what advice he would give other hospitality business and workers, he said treating people right is the key.

“I always stressed at all of my meetings, with all of my employees, treat your customers like they are a guest in your home,” Leising said. “You treat people right and give them good quality product and you should do okay.”
