Gov. Pillen welcomes home Nebraska’s soldiers deployed to Washington, D.C.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (KLKN) — Today, Gov. Jim Pillen welcomed home the Nebraska National Guard troops from D.C. deployment.
The deployment was in regards to the national Freedom250 celebrations.
“We are extremely proud of Nebraska’s representation in Washington, D.C. leading up to the Fourth of July celebrations and then through some of the other events that have followed,” said Pillen. “The returning soldiers are undoubtedly glad to be back home with their family members and friends. They, along with the other members of the Guard, took on an important responsibility in ensuring the safety of visitors to the D.C. area this summer. As always, Nebraska was well-prepared and willing to do its part.”
Last month, Nebraska’s personnel with Task Force Wolf returned home. Today, 23 additional service members returned home near the Joint Force Headquarters in Lincoln.
Around 200 soldiers were deployed in March to Washington, D.C. for Operation Make DC Safe and Beautiful. The initiative’s goal is to reduce crime and clean up the area.
