LPD: Man attempts to steal race car, boat, motorcycle, & multiple trailers

A man was reportedly seen trying to steal multiple people's automobiles and trailers throughout Lincoln last week

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN)- At about 7:30 p.m. on June 25, Lincoln police were called to north 70th street on the report of a suspicious vehicle.

The victim, a 34-year-0ld man, reportedly told police that a white pickup truck was in his driveway trying to steal a trailer and race car that was on it.

According to police, the victim supplied video of the incident as well and LPD says they saw a man back into the driveway and start to hook up the trailer to his truck when the victim returned home and interrupted him.

LPD says the trailer and race care are valued at $3,000.

On June 26, the victim told police that he saw the car again near the victim’s house and was able to provide a license plate that led them to 30-year-old Cody Ryan.

On June 23, a 54-year-old man told police that he saw Ryan on W street trying to steal his boat and trailer. This victim also had security video of the incident. LPD says the boat and trailer are estimated to be worth $50,000.

On June 24, police say a 34-year-old man reported seeing Ryan trying to steal a motorcycle. The victim reportedly told officers that he was gone but witnesses in the area saw the man put on the victim’s helmet, turn on the bike, and rev the engine. LPD says the witnesses said they yelled at the man and he fled the area. The motorcycle is valued at $10,000.

According to LPD, Ryan did not successfully steal anything. Ryan was arrested for three counts of felony theft.
