Nebraska adds Texas high school coach Bob Wager to staff
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska’s staff is being bolstered with the addition of a high school football coach from Texas.
Bob Wager, a coach at Martin High School in Arlington, Texas, will serve as the Huskers’ tight end coach.
Similar to head coach Matt Rhule’s other hires, Wager made the announcement on Thursday with a new profile picture on Twitter.
Nebraska has 11 tight ends on its 2023 roster, including Thomas Fidone and John Goodwin.
During the offseason, tight ends Travis Vokolek and Chancellor Brewington declared for the NFL draft.
Wager will join an offense led by offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield.

Rhule’s most recent coaching hire continues to show his strong connection to Texas. Before coaching in the NFL, Rhule led Baylor’s football team for three seasons.
On signing day, Nebraska got several recruits from Texas – including Princewill Umanmielen, Riley Van Poppel, Brice Turner and Dylan Rogers.
