Nebraska man appeals life sentence for wife’s murder

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A central Nebraska man is trying to overturn his life sentence for the murder of his wife.

Jeffrey Adams, 49, filed a notice of appeal Thursday with the Nebraska Supreme Court.

Court documents do not say why Adams thinks his sentence should be changed.

The case began in February 2023, when Adams punched his wife, Angela Adams, twice in the head.

He then left as she lay bleeding on the floor of their Marquette home, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

She was found dead the next day.

Jeffrey Adams was convicted of first-degree murder in June and sentenced on Oct. 17.

The Supreme Court said in a court filing that it received the appeal notice, but a hearing date has not been set.
