Nebraska wrestling’s Christopher Minto wins Big Ten Freshman of the Week

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska wrestling’s Christopher Minto is earning a Big Ten honor for his win over a Golden Gopher last weekend.

Minto was named Big Ten Wrestling’s Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Thursday.

The redshirt freshman from Cape Coral, Florida, defeated Minnesota’s No. 9 Andrew Sparks in the first conference dual of the season on Saturday.

Minto has racked up 13 wins so far this season.  He is also the third Husker wrestler to be honored by the conference this season.

The Nebraska wrestling team is continuing its Big Ten slate on Friday with a dual against No. 1 Penn State.

The dual will begin at 8 p.m. and be televised on BTN.
